Chem-Dry Vs Steam Cleaning

Steam cleaning

In traditional steam cleaning, water is heated in a closed boiler causing the formation of steam. Depending on the type and make of the steam cleaner, it may take anywhere between 1 and 6 minutes for 1 liter of water to be converted into steam. Once the water boils, the steam is released in measured quantities through a “steam gun”. The principle: The higher the steam pressure, the more powerful the release and the higher the dirt-dissolving performance.

In essence, steam cleaning saturates your carpet and/or upholstery with an excessive amount of water often containing soaps and detergents. Because gallons of water are used, drying may take anywhere between 1 and 2 days, a sufficiently long period of time for your carpet to become breeding ground for mold, mildew and bacteria.

Chem-Dry

In contrast, Chem-Dry uses a low-moisture patented cleaning process that leverages the natural cleaning power of carbonation (so CO2 bubbles) to release and lift grime from deep within carpets; These are then whisked away using state-of-the-art extraction equipment. The principle, in fact, is no different from how club soda removes stains from a shirt.

The solution that’s carbonated in our cleaning process is Chem-Dry’s revolutionary “The Natural”. The Natural is a patented cleaning solution made from ingredients that can be found on FDA’s G.R.A.S. (Generally Recognized as Safe) list and are therefore safe for kids and pets. It is green certified and contains no soaps and/or detergents. It also requires 80% less water than typical steam cleaning making Chem-Dry’s cleaning process better and healthier.

Extraction System
Uses steam to dislodge dirt particles and kill bacteria. Uses the natural cleaning power of carbonation.
Uses soaps and detergents. Uses Chem-Dry’s signature cleaning solution, “The Natural”.
Uses soaps and detergents that leave behind sticky residues and lead to quick resoiling. No sticky residues. This ensures a longer lasting clean.
Uses gallons of water released as steam through a “steam gun”. A low-moisture process; Uses 80% less water than steam cleaning.
A low pressure system.
Dry time: 1-2 days Carpets dry in 1 to 2 hours.
Uses an excessive amount of water and harsh chemicals. Promotes mold and mildew growth Green carpet cleaning safe for kids and pets. Fast dry times combat mold and mildew growth.
