CHEM-DRY’S HOT CARBONATION EXTRACTION SYSTEM REMOVES 98.1% OF COMMON HOUSEHOLD ALLERGENS

When it comes to choosing the perfect floor covering for your home, there is a big misconception that people have about carpets – that asthma and allergy sufferers should avoid it. In truth, the opposite is true. Did you know that carpets actually improve indoor air quality? That’s right! According to studies carried out by both, Shaw Industries Group Inc, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer and CRI, the Carpet and Rug Institute, carpets in the home act like a trap or filter, if you will, keeping dust and common household allergens out of the air we breathe. But like in each filter dust or pet dander remains trapped there until removed by vacuuming and professional carpet cleaning.

A survey commissioned by pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson suggests as many as 10 million Canadians may suffer allergy symptoms and that more women than men admit to symptoms.

BUT CARPETS NEED REGULAR CLEANING

If carpets act as traps in the home for common allergens, with time they are bound to collect all sorts of grit, soil and dust, not to mention health harmful mites and bacteria. Basically, just like the clothes we wear everyday need regular washing to keep them hygienic, our carpets require periodic cleaning to keep them fresh, healthy and clean. Additionally, accumulated soil and grit significantly decrease the life expectancy of carpets and since carpets are expensive items to purchase for the home, eliminating the problems that may lead to their premature replacement makes economic sense.

AND VACUUMING IS NOT ENOUGH

It’s a little known fact that when you have carpet as floor covering in your home, regular vacuuming only serves as the first line of defense against dirt and grit. It is a practice necessary to keep carpets clean but most domestic vacuum cleaners and steamers (even the most powerful ones) cannot get rid of deep-down dirt, bacteria and germs. Carpets and upholstery need to be professionally cleaned regularly (so every 3-4 months) with professional equipment to remove allergens and bacteria from your home.

CHEM-DRY’S PATENTED HOT CARBONATION EXTRACTION PROCESS

And if you need to get your carpet professionally cleaned, deciding between Chem-Dry vs. steam cleaning requires a side-by-side comparison. One of the reasons why people choose Chem-Dry is that the patented cleaning process is drier, cleaner and healthier. Leveraging the natural cleaning power of carbonation, Chem-Dry’s hot carbonation extraction system uses millions of carbon dioxide bubbles to release and lift grime from deep within carpet fibers. These are the extracted for a deeper and longer-lasting clean. The process is in fact not very different from how club soda can be used to remove stains from a shirt or any other item of clothing.

THE PROOF LIES IN THE HOME HEALTH STUDY

One thing you need to understand about professional carpet cleanings that not all carpet cleaning services are created equal. To measure, quality and quantify how much of an impact a Chem-Dry clean can have on home health, an independent air quality laboratory was commissioned to conduct a study on Chem-Dry’s patented cleaning process in multiple homes. The findings of the study, which was carried out in late 2014 were as follows:

“We remove an average of 98.1% of common household allergens from carpets and upholstery (combined). The common household allergens we tested were cat dander, dog dander and dust mite allergen. This broke down further into the respective service lines as follows:

– We remove an average of 97.4% of allergens from carpets
– We remove an average of 99.1% of allergens from upholstery”

Concerning indoor air quality, the same leading independent air quality laboratory also concluded that: “When adding a sanitizer to our Hot Carbonated Extraction carpet cleaning process, we removed an average of 89% of the bacteria in the air and 82.3% of the bacteria from carpets.”

*Based on results from a study conducted by an independent laboratory using Chem-Dry’s Hot Carbonating Extraction process. Allergens tested were dog and cat dander and dust mite allergen. Airborne bacteria results includes use of sanitizer. Figures are an average across multiple homes
