Treating pet urine is a 6-step process.

1. Blot the damp area with plain white paper toweling.
2. Apply a solution of liquid dishwashing detergent and lukewarm water. To prepare the solution, mix together one cup of lukewarm water with one-quarter teaspoon of detergent. Apply the solution with the help of saturated paper towels. Blot and repeat.
3. Rinse the carpet area with warm water. Blot and repeat.
4. Following treatment with the detergent, apply a solution of white vinegar and water. To prepare the solution, mix together one cup of white vinegar and two cups of water. Blot.
5. Cover the area with a thick later of paper towels (about half an inch). Weigh down the paper towels with a heavy, non-fading object.
6. Repeat step 5 until the carpet is completely dry.
